IGA supermarkets

About us

Our four IGA stores are fully owned and operated by Hastings Co-op.

This division operates under the IGA (Independent Grocers of Australia) banner, which gives us the flexibility of independent ownership and operation, while enjoying the advantages, buying power and knowledge of an international supermarket network.

As well as offering fresh, quality products - sourced locally wherever possible - we're proud to keep profits in the local community.

Supporting local products

Wherever possible, we work hard to source and promote local producers and suppliers. It's all about locals supporting locals.

To help you choose local products, we have signage throughout all four stores.

Going the extra mile

Our IGA staff are committed to the highest standards of consistency and customer service.

We pride ourselves on going the extra mile and hope you'll agree that our staff are approachable, friendly and helpful.

On request, we're happy to source special products, or hard-to-find items, for our valued customers.

IGA Community Chest program

With the help of the IGA Community Chest program our IGA stores have returned more than $200,000 back to the local community.

What’s great about this program is it helps drive community-based projects that have a lasting legacy and benefit us all.

It’s all about building a brighter future and recognising the tapestry of community groups that make a real difference to the Hastings way of life.

The grants provide anywhere from $500 to $5000 for each eligible project and past recipients hail from a wide cross section of the community, from sports clubs and schools to special interest groups and volunteer organisations.

To ensure equity and fairness, a new application process was introduced in 2016, with all groups required to complete a simple application form. Applications generally open in September each year.

IGA customers play a pivotal role in this program, with funds from specially-marked ‘Community Chest’ products pooled to provide the grants.

Every time you purchase one of these specially-marked products you can feel good about giving back to the community too.
